Paula's Herbs and
Plants is a family owned and
operated business specializing in
herbs. Our herbs are grown to be consumed as
well as to be beautiful---therefore, all edible herbs are free of pesticides, herbicides and insecticides.
Currently we grow around sixty varieties of herbs in the spring, offering
some of those year round. We grow six types of mint: Apple Mint, Chocolate Mint, Lemon Mint, Orange Mint, Peppermint, Pineapple Mint
and Spearmint. We have both upright rosemary and the prostrate form of rosemary, curly parsley,
and flat-leafed parsley, bronze fennel and green fennel, tarragon, dill, sage, chives and garlic chives, and around five types of thyme.

Propagating Succulents by Leaf Cuttings
Many succulents such as the Jade plant, Panda plant and the two types of Echeveria in Figure S-1 can easily be propagated by leaf cuttings. This makes it possible to start many new plants from only the leaves of one plant. The leaves of some succulents are bad to break loose from the parent plant from the slightest touch. Rather than them being wasted you can start more plants for yourself or to share with others. |

Moving Flowers From the Garden to your Plate
Many
flowers are not only beautiful but also edible. Before eating any
flower make sure you know where it came from and if it is chemical
free. Never eat flowers from the florist, nurseries, garden centers or
from the roadside, as they may have been treated with pesticides,
herbicides or other chemicals. I recommend only eating flowers you grow
yourself to be assured of their safety.

Here are
ten reasons for keeping a garden notebook or journal. Doing this will
make your gardening chores more organized and hopefully easier.
1. Keep
diagrams of your garden beds with notations showing where the plants
are located and the names of the plants. This way after some of the
plants lose their leaves you will still be able to locate them when
working in the garden. You can also mark locations where there is room
for more plants.

Growing Herbs Inside Through the WinterGrowing herbs inside through the winter is a challenge but it can be done with a little planning. First the herbs need light so choose an area in front of a window, preferably a south facing one. East and west may be used but try to stay away from a north facing window if you can. Also you may need to add some supplemental lighting. |
