Basil - Lemon Basil seeds

Price: $2.50

We grow the Mrs. Burns variety, also known as, Osimum basilicum citriodorumOur basil plants are organically grown.

Lemon Basil has a lemon/citrus fragrance and flavor.

As a culinary herb, its unique lemon flavor makes it particularly good in vinegar, with fish, in salad dressings & sauces, and in oils. It is great in pesto and other standard basil dishes, too. There is no herb more useful than basil.

All basils are tender annuals which are easy to grow, but are very susceptible to cold weather. They should be planted in late spring after all danger of frost is past. To produce high quality basil, grow it in full sun in warm, well-drained soil. Raised beds are highly recommended because they promote good drainage and warm quickly in the spring. A light sand to silt loam with a pH of 6.4 is best.

Other info: Nice variety with great  lime flavor.

Soil: Average to Rich

Water: Average

Light: Full sun

Height: 12" to 18"

Common Names: Basil

Type: Annual

The best flavor is found in fresh leaves, but frozen and dried leaves are worth the effort also. The ideal time to harvest basil and other herbs that are to be dried, is on a sunny morning immediately after the dew has evaporated and before the day becomes too warm. When harvesting basil, cut it back to about 1/4 inch above a node. Leave enough foliage on the plant so it can continue growing healthy.

Seed packet contains 25 to 40 seeds.

Seeds are shipped USPS First Class Mail.
